Customer Testimonials

John and Kristin Martin - Mia Regazza"In this day and age, you just don’t see that kind of service often."

When John and Kristin Martin decided to turn their dreams of owning a restaurant into reality, they initially turned to large, big-name banks in search of advice and assistance.

"We went through all of the channels of the larger banks, and found they were not very customer-friendly when it comes to working with the little guy," John recalls.

When the Martins contacted the Abington Bank, they were pleasantly surprised with the willingness they were met with and the care they received.

"They were very personable," John says. "In this day and age, you just don’t see that kind of service often. We worked with Lou Paragona, and he was so dedicated. I think he would have come by and helped us serve our customers if we asked him to!"

In addition to working with the Bank’s Vice President Lou Paragona, the Martins were pleased to have met with Bank President Andy Raczka, who they say was very helpful throughout the process.

"They bring back that old school feel of how things used to be done," John says. "They make you feel like you’re not just another number."

John and Kristin met in the restaurant business and are proud of their family-owned and operated restaurant, Mia Regazza.

Located at 268 Washington Street in Abington, the restaurant’s name means "my girls" in honor of their three daughters, who are also involved with the business.

"We’re a hands-on, family business," John says. "Someone from our family is always there. That’s how Abington Bank is."

The Martins share the Abington Bank’s dedication and commitment to the community, and John said he would advise others to think locally too. "We have to think of the local economy and help each other grow," he says.

John says Mia Regazza is growing leaps and bounds and couldn’t have done it without the help of Abington Bank.

Dr. Diane Koury"They were there from start to finish."

When Dr. Diane Koury and her husband decided to move their dentistry practice from one Abington location to another, she never imagined the difficulty she would face.

From getting the necessary permits and the building up to code to getting the financial answers she needed, the Abington Bank was there every step of the way. Today, she is proud of her success in the new location, and is thankful for the dedication and support she received from the Bank.

"They were understanding of a small, local business and what was involved in helping people," Dr. Koury recalls. "They were really interested in where I was in the process, and learning the details to put together the package I needed."

In addition to financial assistance, Dr. Koury credits the Bank with taking it a step further in teaching her how to create a business plan to fit her personal needs.

"Andy taught me to make projections and write a business plan, providing the framework I needed to help achieve my goals," she said.

Dr. Koury recalls a friend of hers suggesting she talk to a smaller bank at the start of the process. "She thought that they would be more amenable to our individual needs, and as it turned out, that was the case."

Peter Murphy"They worked hard to make it easy."

With two thriving businesses and a young family, Peter Murphy is a busy man. So when he needed financing for his latest construction project, he didn't waste any time. He headed straight for Abington Bank.

"Some banks really put you through the wringer when you apply for a commercial loan," Murphy says. "But Abington Bank is different. They reviewed my plan and told me right away what they could do. I didn't have to wait weeks for a decision."

Murphy says the process was hassle-free, from beginning to end. "Everything went like clockwork. That gave me more time to focus on my business," he says. "Abington Bank really works with you. That makes all the difference."

Nathan Elliott"They really believed in me."

Nathan Elliott had a dream: to convert an 1820 hip-roof colonial in downtown Abington into four first-class condominiums – while preserving its historic character. Unfortunately, the banks he approached for financing weren't interested in his vision. Until he called Abington Bank.

"The president of the Bank himself came out to the property. He listened to my plans, dreams and aspirations," Nathan recalls. "He could see my passion for the project. Three weeks later, I had the money I needed to get started."

Today, Elliott Place Condominiums stand as a testament to Nathan Elliot's vision for local development - and local banking.

"Abington Bank believed in me," he says. "That's why I believe in them."
